Draft Program, Workshop, June 20 – 23, 2013.

The Workshop 2013 Gallery_edited-2

Workshop, Berlin 20 – 23, 2013.
Draft Program.

I call it a draft program. Not because there are something draftly about it, but because we all know that it is not going to happen this way. Reality changes things and it should. As it does with photography.

So, this is more of a well meant but bendable time frame and rough content than anything else. We don’t want to stress things during the workshop because stress is not why we are there. Stress don’t make make good photography either.

We will bend the agenda so that it fits while we are there.

Shooting Sections

The workshop has two main shooting sections: First of all there is The Program, then there is The Project.

In The Program sessions you will be given special tasks to try out and complete. In The Project sessions you will shoot for your specific project. The two can and should mingle so that all of it benefits you project. Call it on the job training.

You will see both reflected in the time table below (both in red).

Before and After

There are also pre-workshop tasks you are asked to engage in. And post-workshop tasks as well. You will be coached through both.

Here is what you have to do before you come to Berlin: 1) load 25 of your your best images to a site on the Internet for all to see; and 2) describe a vision and a specify a photo project that you will shoot in Berlin while you are there.

The Program is based on session from Street Photographer’s Toolbox. The Project you will invent and bring with you. The challenge is to have the two fit together. They will.

The Project should be described in good time so that preparations can be made. For instance, if you want to make a project called The Wall , I will have to research and set up a program for you. Together with you.

By the way, 2 people could easily share the same project. That would, in fact, be great.

After the workshop in Berlin you will have to finish your project. Load it to the internet for all to see. You will also be couched through that process also. If  you will to you could end up with a book.

All of this will be specified in detail in an Individual Work Program (IWP) for those who go to Berlin.

Let’s take if from there.

One questions Asked and Answered: Is this workshop of any use for you in your daily life even outside the area of photography? Yes it is. Very much so. Let me come back to that.

    You want money for this?

    All

Many thanks for the interest and the questions.

Yes, this workshop it will come at a price at the level of having my direct costs covered. I have to come back to this when I see how many will attend. It is not going to ruin anyone.

The idea is to arrange a workshop once a year for a very limited number of people. Since I know Berlin pretty well by now, and find the city ideal for this kind of session, it will be held there.

The workshop will include both a pre- and a post- session in that we will try to work both on a specific project and in debt with aspects of visual communication brought forward in Street Photographer’s Toolbox.

I will come back to this soon. Have a very good evening :-). And a Happy Christmas.

    Best
    Knut
